Monday I have to go for my second Colonoscopy. I suppose it is better this time than last time. I know what to expect... but still... it is not fun. When I made the appointment I forgot it was on the day after easter. That means, if I forgot something I won't be able to go to the store to get it. Stores closed.
Also I had to hire a service to drive me. I don't like going with a total stranger. Just feeling some dread. Also feeling some dread from the fact that like 19 things seem to be happening at the same time. Something good happened to me last week but in order to get it I have to do a whole bunch of things ... and no one seems to have a lot of answers (or is moving too fast) Then my HVAC compressor seems to be breaking down and I called someone out last week and his answer was... yeh let me know if it gets worse. I hate that kind of thing because this week with preping for the colonosocpy I don't have time for the compressor to be broken. And the guy suggested it might be on its way out. It is only 10 years old. I fear this guy will just tell me to get a new one because he seems super lazy. Then my boss got sick and I don't begrudge him resting but I think everything is going to get put over to next week and I was hoping that would remain free in case of complication from the colonoscopy. |

I hate when a serviceguy says let me know if it gets worse. No, i called you NOW. It already IS worse! Are they just looking to get paid for an extra service call?

So I got the colonoscopy. Frankly everything was different than last time. First, I was given Propofol. Wow... I think I will do that again. The good part is I have had several times where drugs didn't seem to work on me. Marijana doesn't do anything for me and the last time I had a colonoscopy I had "Twilight" which is allegedly Fentanyl but it did absolutely nothing. So I was worried perhaps anesthesia didn't work on me. But I am happy to report it does. I was out on Propofol so fast I don't even remember it. I just remember waking up feeling fabulous. And good thing... I really didn't find it hard to wake up.
The bad news is that I had 10 Polyps. I wasn't expecting that. I think perhaps it is due to gaining weight... but who knows because in the last 3 years for at least 2 of them I was a lot thinner than I am now. Guess I have to go back on a diet. But I suppose I will see what the path report says. Most were very small. I took a service and I was disappointed. The guy who took me -- it is his business... and he was creepy and weird. Really reminded me of a lot of guys that I dated at the end of my dating period. When I came out he put out his arm like to support me. I was fine so I said, no I am good and I want to try to wake up anyway... and he got all huffy. I felt like I had to apologize and I was paying for this service. I guess i am going to have to make friends. |

I had propofol and fentanyl for my detached retina last year and i agree, that is some good shyte.
Im sorry your ride was weird. I had a Senior Helpers service and they had sent me a veritable angel. White hair, wide blue eyes, a lovely personality. But they almost didnt do my surgery because she was only a ride, not a sleepover. I have to resesrch what is required for my cataract surgery. |

Propofol is nice. Glad you had the colonoscopy and the polyps were seen. I am normally one to put off things and last year I decided NOT to put off a GYN issue and boom! Endometrial cancer and then everything sped up x1000 and had a hysterectomy. Glad I didn't put it off because the surgery is all I need at this point and I didn't have to have radiation or chemo.
It's hard to be alone and need a procedure. My providers won't let a service drive me to and from, they require that the person bring me, stay through the entire thing and bring me home. They also came out into the waiting room to make sure that person was there a couple of times during my surgery. Hmmm...that could be a good business, charging by the hour to drive, wait and drive home (all the hospitals and surgery centers require this when anesthesia is used). I wish I had a larger vehicle. I'm going to think about this for a while. |

So at the very least I am going to write my rep about it. Honestly, I could have driven home yesterday and if they are going to make a rule that I can't have needed medical care without something than they need to provide it (even if there is a charge). I think it is about time that they are forced to provide resources for the entire procedure. fyi I found this facebook group that seems legit (singles helping singles) Log into Facebook |

Yeah i was throwing a fit the morning of my procedure. The anesthesiologist wanted to cancel me, but my surgeon overrode her. I was like, do i have to get married to have this procedure?! I was spitting and sarcastic in full feminist curmudgeon mode! There was no warning, except that i could not have an uber, so i did schedule the senior helper a day ahead, but even then it was last minute (and therefore iffy and stressful). They came out to the waiting room (to harass me) like 3 times. I was obviously there alone. Its like they cant even imagine a person alone. Sorry but i cant imagine myself any other way.

I was set to have an endoscopy and I just couldn't get an answer from the people ahead of time if I needed a ride or if someone had to come in with me. I got the feeling it was up to whomever was working that day. I ended up finding a different test that didn't have me being put out. So I had that. Very irritating that medical providers will not be honest about this as well. I am sure because they know if we were denied a procedure we might go to our elected officials. I also think there would be a wrongful death suit if the delay lead to death or personal injury. |

I think those of you who had this procedure without support of people who you know are incredibly brave.
When I had mine my husband and son both had covid so my elderly father was the only one around - I was lucky to have him. I had to jump out the car to throw up. |
