Welcome to Psych Central Kankapoo!
Meds usually take a few weeks to get into the system, so stopping them probably wasn't such a good idea. I hope you have a Doctor and therapist to talk things through. I know taking meds can be hard but they can help to get you through those rough patches. I don't think you are a weird person at all! Hugs ![]()

I found the right med after 7 years of attempts, and I'm feeling way better. It was worth, definitely. Don't expect miracles from meds, but give yourself a chance.

Hello,
medication is the worst to deal with - But without it ----- IT IS WORSE! When thought I was ALL BETTER - took myself off ----------WRONG! Reason for medications not working: Of course side effects, take so long to get into system, age, situations, the body gets ammuned, new manufacturers of medication...... OR A BETTER MEDICATION comes out (I WISH, yeah) Prescriptions do have to be changed; the body Just when one seems to FINALLY work it can and work for years, I'm weird and I'm glad to meet you ![]() |

hi, good to meet you.
i too am not that fond of myself. I've done some pretty horrible things in my life. i've also quit numerous meds doctors have put me on because i thought they werent doing anything. luckily i did this on and off thing in prison so i had a cushion when i stopped from letting me do anything bad to myself. I eventually found the right combination, but only after i started to take steps in my life to improve my situation. instead of sitting in my bunk all day i went out and started playing cards with the other guys, lifting weights, and getting a inmate library job. It's kinda of hard for meds to work when your fully concentrated on how bad the world is. sometimes you need a slight distraction for the chemicals to take hold. kind of like watching water boil. nothing is going happen intill you look away. |

Sometimes meds take awhile to work and sometimes we aren't prescribed the right ones initially. Unfortunately, it is a trial and error approach. Don't give up, but rather talk to your doctor about your concerns and see if some changes can make a difference.

Hey - Maybe think of the changes of medications like finding the right shoes to wear... and when they get worn out, etc....... |
