If I have one wish, I would start my life all over again except that time would never go back no matter how hard you wished. And that fact made me feel so vulnerable, as if I have no control of my life at all.

I know that living in the past will just screw up the future but I can't help imagine how better would my life be if I changed this, or that.

Sometimes I wish I could stop time, or even better, to sleep forever. In that case, I think I won't have to worry about the future anymore.

What's the future for me anyway? It's dark, gloomy and vague.

A vague future most can tolerate. Gloomy and dark - that's another matter. I remember a time several years ago when my future was looking grim. I was paralyzed with fear, sick to my stomach and suffered violent headaches.

Now, drugs take take the edge off the worst symptoms (all but a couple, anyway), and life has settled into a rhythm that accommodates my illnesses. I'm far from what I was, though.

Your future, Lonelyperson92, has yet to happen. Life can be really weird. Who knows, maybe one or more of those "regrets" could turn out to be doors to unexpected happiness. Yes, that's what I wish for you: unexpected happiness.

i have to disagree. we all control our own lives. at least the present and the future.

NO we cant change the past
YES some of what weve done might have been wrong/ hurt us / hurt others but we can't change it.

and you know what, it's part of what makes you you! living with regrets just makes life unbearably hard. can you look at your past and find the things you have learned!?

I hope your future is not dark and gloomy,
For I believe you do have the power to control it.

Excuse me .....but I may need some extra meds today .........????????

i think that was my point! that we all control our own futures.

the past forms a part of who we are but it doesn't have to define who we are.

we all do things we regret but what can do you do about it? nothing. you cant change the past. you cean learn from it and choose to try and move on. i'm not saying it's easy but what other choice do you have? Let the past ruin your present / future?

I don't have the words, but I still can quote from another web site.. I think.

Quote:
You do not need to be a prisoner of your past - it doesn't have to determine your future.

You have control over your future, over your thoughts (about the past, present and future), which influence your feelings, and which both contribute to the way you act, and what happens in your life.
Quote:
If you have bad memories, you might be able to change them to neutral or good memories through forgiveness. Or, you might be able to challenge the way you think about a past event if your thinking has been faulty, and turn it into a neutral or good memory.
There. Forgiveness might be the key.
