I get depressed on the weekend. When I'm working i feel a lot better, but on the weekend I am bored and i am depressed. I just am feeling very low on myself at the moment. I hate everything about myself.

My psych wants me to write about 30 things that are positive about myself. Qualities.

I just felt like crying for most of the day today. I keep thinking stupid and inane thoughts like wouldn't it be cool if I am part of an elite fighting force, or I wish i was spider-man.

I think it's time i went off my pills.

Please stay ON your pills! Speak to your doctor about any concerns before you stop taking any. This is VERY dangerous hun.

I definitely intend to do it under supervision.

I'm also getting this thought about wiring up my cat's brain to a lightbulb to power it. It's not something that I intend to do at all . . . I don't even know that its' possible. it' just an image i get.

This is why I hate myself sometimes.

Uhm, maybe it's not so much going off your meds but having them reevaluated to see if maybe you need them changed. I don't know for sure, but wiring up your cat's brain to a light bulb is, well, a unique thought. If it is too intrusive, please mention it to your doctor.

I've heard of cat whisker radios, maybe that's where you got that idea....

I hear you. I tend to get depressed on the weekends as well. And oddly enough, my T wants me to make a list of 30 things that I like - essentially things that are positive - weird coincidence.

Anyhow, this weekend I've promised myself I'm going to do everything in my power to NOT get depressed.

So far I've went and gotten groceries (something I hadn't done in about a month and 1/2), made a nice lunch (another thing that doesn't happen a lot), took a nap, did some readings, and baked cookies.

Maybe if you make a "list" of things that you can do that you enjoy it will help to make this weekend better for you as well.

Hope it going ok for you...
Jacq

You are not the only one who finds weekends challenging. Hang in there. Definitely let your pdoc know if you are having intrusive thoughts.
Take care!

Hugs to BiscuitTin, Jacq, Googley, and everyone else who gets depressed on weekends!

You know, if I could insert myself into your mind, BiscuitTin, I'd make sure "I come up with curious, fantastic ideas and images" got into your list of 30 good things about yourself. Just my opinion, but life tends to erode people's powers of imagination, and if you can still come up with cool, wild thoughts like the ones you mentioned, something is going on inside you that's resisting the erosion. Oddly, it may be related to your illness, but I still think it's positive.

Thanks rohag. I am struggling with that list at the moment. Perhaps I'll include imagination.

I actually forgot to take my meds the last couple of days. That would explain the depression this week. I only realized I forgot to take my meds when I started having the physical side effects last night.

At least, I think I forgot to take them. I don't even know for sure.
Thanks for this!

I agree, BiscuitTin - imagination is a positive. As for keeping track of the meds - might want to jot down the schedule and check off each dose when you take it just to make certain you have - it's much harder to figure out whether or not you have after the fact especially when you're depressed and thinking is foggy anyway.

As for dealing with lonely weekends - most people do better during the week when they have work and/or school - when their time is structured somewhat for them, so applying the same structuring to your weekends might be helpful - keep you from just drifting about - schedule your next weekend ahead of time so that you have something to look forward to - a particular movie you want to go see or rent, a visit to a museum or art gallery, attend a communtiy play, check out a book you are interested in at the library (you can rent movies and games at some libraries for free), try out a new recipe, learn how to sketch or paint - whatever it is you enjoy and are interested in doing use all that weekend open space to do things that feed your inner person - maybe weekends will become your favorite days. Hope this helps even a little.

I never seem to finish anything I started. So many things lie forgotten by the wayside, and I have no benefit to show from having partaken in them.

Psychologists.
Pills.
Books.
etc.

And I don't mean just in psych endeavours, but in all parts of my life.

I'm going to do a graph now to see what my moods are like on a day to day basis, but who knows, I'll probably forget all about that too.

Meh.
Thanks for this!

I understand. I could never remember to journal. My max is three days It took me a while to get my act together enough to gete things finished. I think it was just rough for me to prioritise, and things just got in the way. Good luck with your graph. Sounds interesting. Let us know what you learned! By the way, how's your cat?

My cat? You mean the one I fantasize about hooking up to electrodes? It's not really my cat, I guess it's just a generic cat that I think about. It's probably a mixture of all the cats I've had in my life.

I will definitely try and do that graph now. My spirits are up cos I got this new journal program for my computer and I can organise some stuff. Maybe.

Thanks.

So, how's the graph coming, (((((BiscuitTin)))))? Did it tell you anything about your moods? What about the new computer journaling program? Watcha' got planned for this weekend? How about bringing us all up to date?

Don't like weekends either! Only 1 thing good about a weekend and that is Monday The one day of the week 2 of my favorite shows are on tv...don't turn tv on until 6pm so it's closer to being able to watch them.

One thing I really relate to is the wierd thoughts and visions. They make no sense, and I wouldn't act on them but they are a constant slideshow in my mind and I never mentioned them because I thought you would all think I was crazy...
