I wasn't going to bother writing this but I'm sitting here bored to death and thought some may like something new to read.
I can't stop having negative thoughts . I feel so alone and I know you guys are always here when I need support. I went for a walk tonight without my dog , it was cold , and I just felt completely lost.
I went into a few stores and my thoughts had me so obsessed with myself that I had to just get out of there. I recently went to a community outreach program for the mentally ill where they find housing and employment and serve meals for a dollar and all sorts of other things. I filled out an application to join that has to be approved by my Psychiatrist first for approval. There is no pressure where you have to be there at a certain time or even everyday. It's a come and go as you please program. I would have to take a bus ride which would take about an hour to get there. The problem is I get these negative thoughts that tell me I'm just headed for another disappointment.
I don't think I can stick with it. In fact I'm pretty sure I won't.
This is my biggest problem. Following through. I'm so used to giving up. Thanks for reading ....... I'm trying ... but it's not good enough.

seems like you are sinking the baot before you have even given it a chance to float. Maybe just go through the motions and give it a chance. The outcome might surprise you........good luck

Henry Ford said, “Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right.” You have already filled out the application to become part of the community outreach program. Do you think you will be able to obtain the approval of your psychiatrist?

Getting the psychiatrist's approval is only thing that is important right now. Good luck.

My social worker said it shouldn't be a problem , since I have no history of violence. I just hate the negative thoughts.

I think I sort of know what you mean, the negative thoughts. Yeah, that sucks. Let me know when you figure out what to do about 'em. I guess it is a process though, take things one day at a time. And I agree not to sink your boat before it floats. Even when you start having those negative thoughts, a part of you is recognizing them and being a little more rational. Hang on to that. When you start to think them, try to have that other more rational side say, hey! stop making a catastrophe out of what is. nothing bad is going to happen you know. i don't know if that helped at all, probably didn't, lol, sorry. but anyways, I kinda know what you mean.

Hmmm... "Babysteps...Grand Magnate...3,044 posts..." Seems to me you've followed through on something (something for which a lot of us are grateful).

Yes, the program you're describing is different from participating in this online community. As a come-and-go-as-you-please outreach, it sounds low-pressure. Personally, I would still be severely uneasy, but if you feel up to it, more power to you!

Babysteps, just the fact you managed to go in there and fill in the form shows alot of bravery and I think you should definitely give it a go. I find that if a think too hard I start to get scared and talk myself out of things!!
Good luck. I hope you find it helpful.

I believe in you my freind. I know how the negative thoughts come and invade us, but I have also seen the strength you have to fight those negative feelings. Take a chance. What could it hurt? Reaching out is a good thing. Take it one day at a time, one minute, one second if you have to. I know it is hard, but if you do not try, you will never know that you can. Reach babysteps and we are reaching with you. Sending gentle hugs and loving thoughts. Always.

I hear you hon. I tend to start things too but ya know what? I'm going to go to Uni to sign on for a course in January, open day first then it will snowball to a councelling course and eventually a degree in psychotherapy .... what say we ecourage each other? I have faith in you simply for the fact that you have already signed this form, gone outside with your dog even which is something I struggle with having mild agraphobia - so let's get through this please? I would so enjoy having an inspiration buddy . Keep posting each step of the way and I will too? Waddaya say???? I think we both have exciting times ahead and just think of the results huggies, Ophelia xxxxx Forget headed for another disappointment

I think this is something that will be of great help to you, so for sending the application. The mental health center I'm going to works like this and they helped some. They got me a real easy part time job and they're talking about finding me a place to live. The other positive thing is that I met some really great people I can talk to and hang out with.
All this to say that even if you don't follow through it'll definitely be a positive experience So tell the negative thoughts I said "Shut up"

Good luck, my friend
