That's pretty much how depression feels to me, like being stuck in a jar of peanut butter. It gets so hard to move around. It is a thick, energy draining feeling and it is so hard to breathe. That is how I have been lately. I come around to read posts but have not been posting much lately. Writing poems have been my greatest release but I haven't even been able to do that lately. Sooner or later this will pass. It always does.

Thank you for connecting even if it's just in passing. I am sorry to hear you are feeling a little more down lately but glad that you still have hope for the truth, that it will pass.

What do you need to do to escape the peanut butter malaise?

Hello, I usually don't do anything because the depression kills my motivation to do anything. It just passes like a bad storm does eventually.

I have felt this way so many times before as well. And as you know, it will pass and you will get through it. But I know it is incredibly tough when you are stuck. Continue to read the posts and hopefully you will find one that will give you some motivation to keep pushing forward and not sinking deeper into the peanut butter

I was wondering what happened to you!
![]() I too feel like it's not worth posting sometimes becuase I don't know what to say or how to say it and everyone else's life sucks too so why do we even bother? But when I do feel like that, I just force myself to post something encouraging on a few threads. Maybe it's just a hug or whatever, but I know I appreciate it when someone does that for me. Hang in there and come back soon. We're here for you. ![]() |

Stuck in peanut butter! That's an absolutely super analogy for depression.
It's great you have this confidence. If I may ask,

Hi, my past experiences have shown me that this feeling will pass. It is not the first time I felt like this and I'm sure it won't be the last. I feel better today. I sold some gold rings and went on a little shopping spree. Peace - Dennis

I was going to say the same thing but I was afraid to crack a joke in a serious situatioin. But sometimes we really need humor in dark times - right. Great minds think alike ![]()

Hi, I'm coing out of it now. It took me a couple weeks. That is a long time for me. I really need to get out of this house more often. Once summer is here I won't want to go out because I find the Florida summers too hot. Wish I was back home in Massachusetts but unfortunately I am not the one who wears the pants in this house. The only time I am King is when the Queen is not home lol. Peace - Dennis Quote:

Hello, Kind words are always appreciated. Thanks a million. I guess we are all in the same boat one way or another. The posts are evidence of the endless struggles we all have. I never felt like I could connect with the so called "normal" people out there. I felt so bad on New Years Eve because several people from the Church came to ring in the new year with us and all of a sudden I got the worse anxiety attack and withdrew to my room. I only feel comfortable around other people who suffer from mental illnesses. I never was able to connect with the others. Peace - Dennis

Yes the realization does make it easier to bear. I look that the whole thing like it is a storm. Some storms come and go quickly and others not. But they all do eventually pass and I try my best to hold on to that thought when I get depressed. It does make it easier.
I have yet to ever lose that confidence and it is something that worries me from time to time. I hear so many stories about people being so deeply depressed that they end their lives and it scares me because if someone can get to that point I fear it may also happen to me. Part of me doesn't think it can but another part of me wonders. Peace - Dennis |

I'm glad you're feeling better too and this is a good example why everyone who suffers from depression or hard times, need to hang in there, until the feelings get better. Thanks for being so kind and answering everyone's post.

I understand being in Peanutbutter... Generally if I can get my self motivated enough to go to the gym I will feel better, and I know this in my mind, however I can't always motivate myself and end up sleeping and hoping the depression goes away if for nothing else so I can breathe again.

I am amazed at how many have been in the peanut butter and know how it feels.
