I should be happy about this. But I'm really scared.
I get to go to a psychaitrist. My mother has found out about most of the depressive symptoms, including the suicide.
I have one question though. She said that she and my brother have depression, but have never thought of hurting themselves. Suicidal thoughts and behaviours are another ball game. But a symptom of depression is suicide, so I'm pretty confused by all of that.

Take care, everyone.

Suicidal feelings or ideation is one of many symptoms of depression. You do not have to have all of depression's symptoms to be considered clinically depressed. Rather I do not tend to cry much (which is a symptom of depression), but I am still considered to have major depression.

I am glad you are going to see a psychiatrist. Your mother is correct suicidal feelings need attention. Try to be as open and honest as you can be with the doctor. I wish you the best.

Estrella

Can you be sure of that?
Never thought of hurting themselves , that is.
Good luck at the doctor's appointment.
Wishing you all the best.

estrella, congratulations on seeing the doctor. He/she can answer the questions your mother has raised. I hope this is the beginning of a better life for you.

Well done for taking this step! It's very brave, that first time is so scary... but it will be so much easier than you're expecting. It's SO good you're taking this step now, rather than ignoring the problems and letting them get worse. I wish I'd asked for help much easier.
Good luck, let us know how it goes, if you like x

honestly i dont believe that for a second. i dont think there is anybody out there with depression.....depending on the severity of it, who doesnt think about hurting themselves or suicide at least once in their lives. Its somethin that alot of us deal with and there are times that people lose the courage or will to keep going and that is understandable but its best to keep fighting to the end because your life can always change. anyway i hope you face your fears and go to your appointment. maybe you will feel better or learn something from this visit. good luck.

My appointment was delayed, and I won't be able to go until--well, there is no set date at this point. I may not even be able to make it to it on its date. So far, all right.

Estrella hang in there it's so difficult that first time,it's strange and not easy to talk about such intimate feelings. It's not easy but it's all worth it. Keep posting on here there's always someone to talk to (:
Wishing you well,

Please make sure you go see the doctor, even if you feel anxious about it and even if the appointment has been delayed. *hug*
