I have let her just walk all over me and and done everything she wanted done. I grew up and realized that I am my own person, but why do I feel like a child when i am around her. I always though Love was freely given, until one day she said,"I had to earn her love". Was that what she was taught growing up? I hope that when the day comes, I do not turn into her.
I feel as if I am nothing around her, but I know I am more. Is it bad to keep on forgiving someone you have to Love, when they say, but do something completely opposite? ![]() |

Hello, FrustW/Mm14! (Is that "Frustrated with Mum/Mom?")
I don't know how to respond to your poll. All I think I can say is "love" that has to be earned is not the same love as that which is freely given.

Love MUST be earned. In your case it sounds like your giving everything of yourself and not getting it in return? Is this the case? How long have you been involved with this girl?

I say YES!!! The only *true* love is freely given. If it has to be "earned", then it is not love. Love is when you can love someone even if they did the worst things to you....
And, FrustW/Mm14, you don't ever *have* to love anyone. If you don't love her, it's ok. But just look inside yourself- if this is just a temporary thing, where you're upset with her, and she is upset with you, then you probably still love her, and her you. Sometimes love is just hard to see because it is buried under piles of hurt. On the other hand, sometimes it is simply not there. I would say that if you keep forgiving her, then you probably still love her. However, I'm just a dumb kid, so my advice probably isn't very sound. ![]() Still, ![]() ![]()

Welcome to PC, FrustW/Mm14!
Trust must be earned not love. Love should come freely and unconditionally. Some do give affection conditionally mistaking it for love, which is a regretful state as they know no differently what it truly means to love and be loved in return unconditionally. Love is never earned and if it is supposed to be, then they have confused it with another emotion. I'm not sure who 'she' is but no matter, NO ONE can take away who you are without your permission. Someone who does not return your love unconditionally is their loss, not yours. Then it becomes a matter of not liking them, but you can still love them, (especially if talking about family.) If a romantic partner does not return your love or harms you (physically or mentally, such as trying to make you feel less than worthy as a person), then it is not love and time to walk away. You owe yourself that. ![]() Last edited by Fresia; Dec 09, 2010 at 09:09 PM. |
