im pretty sure im not the only one. i hate alot of things about depression and one of them is the fact that its hard for me to go to sleep or stay asleep; or i sleep to long and wake up restless. im always tired and i dont know what to do about it. maybe i should go out and buy a buttload of 5-hour energy drinks...

No, you are not the only one. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time.

I have the same problem. I take Seroquel and Restoril for sleep. Without those meds I can not sleep.

I take Trazondone ans Remeron for sleep. Trazadone is an antidepressant that has sedating effects Remeron is also an antidepressant thats sedating. I also take an anxiety med at night called Buspar and I take Propananol (a blood pressure med) for anxiety. I take them all at night along with Zyprexa which also helps you sleep. I know its a lot of meds but it works for me.

I've tried the 5 hour energy drinks. They don't work for me. Coffee never works for me. I could fall asleep after a cup of coffee. It just doesnt help me. I guess its my brain chemistry.

I know what you mean. I drink an energy drink and I'm fine for a while. Then it wants to carry over to what should be sleepy time. Then there is one or 2 Tylenol PM's or melatonin to get me to sleep. Then drowsy again maybe the next day. When I had insurance and could get depression medications they really did help.

you might even try taking a magnesium or calcium/magnesium supplement. I'm not on any prescriptions - anti-depressants or otherwise - so I find other ways to cope... for sleeping, a supplement with magnesium can help your body relax and settle. it especially helps with restlessness.
