Three of my mice are sick. Again. Well, three of them have some sort of infection that didn't clear out with antibiotics and in addition I have a mouse (just a baby!) that might have some epilepsy sort of thing, or some sort of damage in it's nervous system. Anyway she shakes. Pretty much like parkinson's.

I'm thinkin of giving up on the coughing mice. I can't afford to take them to the vet anymore. Not even to be put down.

Sega licks her paws, as if she had allergies, but I'm hoping the antibiotic is causing it. Then again, she also had that ear infection, pretty soon after we changed her food to a bit cheaper brand.

Windy, my horse, is coughing too. Another horse had some sort of infection a while ago at the stables, and it might have been contagious. We'll see how it goes for a while, but I really don't have any money for a vet for him either. Removing the cyst from Sega's tail kinda took all I had.

I'm tired of trying to hold all the strings.

Neri - come on. You're not a bad person. You love your animals.

Ultimately, though, we have to put ourselves first before we can be good caregivers to others.

I know you love your animals very much. Please don't be hard on yourself.

But I was thinking of abandoning them. It might be contagious and I really can't risk of all my mice getting ill.

And even if that wasn't wrong (it is though), I'm still tired of everything going wrong all the time. I can't handle all this %#@&#! at once.

well, maybe it would be better to put them up for adoption instead... ? that way you wouldn't worry as much after the fact.

Them not healing with the antibiotic means it's chronic, and that means it's best to have them put down, cuz they can't have a good life if it's always hard to breath.

If the new owner knows that they are sick, then it's not irresponsible. Some people would rather take in a sick animal than let it die. You raise a good point about the chronic illness, though. Maybe you can find a vet who will do it for a discount/free?
