After 2 months of being extremely suicidal, I've surrendered. I'm going to the ER tomorrow morning to be evaluated, and they'll probably admit me to the psych ward. Ironic, because tomorrow (May 17th) was the date I've had in mind these past two months to finally end it.

Extremely nervous, dunno what to expect. I've been in a mental hospital three times, but all three times I was a minor and was put in an adolescent ward. Now that I'm 18, there's a good probability I'll be put with adults...

Wish me luck, I guess.

Wishing you the best. Never been on the kid side, but have stayed a few times on different adult units, not to bad. Glad that you are deciding to go get help. Big step on your part. Will miss you while you are gone.

Well Atreyufreak,

Look at it this way, it is the date you are ending it, but you have chosen to end the part where you let it own you. Good for you. Now you have taken a step and for you a better step.

No, it may not be easy, but it is a start. It is admitting that you need more help and now you are willing to ask in every way you can.

I had two of my kids hospitalized in the adult ward when they were teens because there was nothing else available in our area. It turned out to be a positive experience for both of them. They did see some things that surprised them but didn't upset them. Just the usual with people having problems. For our daughter it was the thing that helped her get past her struggles and she has been well for 11 years now except for a bit of post-partum depression which was treated and she did well. Our son also found it positive, he was hospitalized again when he was 18. Again it was a good experience overall. He was six hours from home but our daughter happened to work in that particular psych ward.
I struggle with depression and have for 22 years. I always consider the hospital my safe place where I can go if things get to be too much. It sounds like you need to be there now and you have made that choice. It will be okay and remember they will understand you are scared and afraid.
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
Thanks for this!

Hey Atreyu!

I'm so proud of you for going to the hospital. I hope that you make the most out of your stay at the hospital should they keep you. Know that you have tons of people on PC that are praying for you and keeping you in their thoughts. Many people on here love and care about you and it's so good to see you getting help.

Love and hugs,
Tara

I was discharged on Friday afternoon, with an official diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. I'm staying with my parents for a few days. My aunt already took my knives from my apartment whilst I was in the hospital, and I plan to give my mother my remaining alcohol once I get home.

I don't know yet if it helped. I'm not suicidal anymore (or at least I haven't been yet...), but I'm incredibly nervous about going back to work. The good thing is the doctor extended my medical leave of absence to June 1st, so I'll have some time to get my head together. I definitely have to work on reaching out to people more...

Thank you all for the hugs and support I dunno what I'd do without this place.

It can be an adjustment leaving the hospital. I'm glad you will have some time off. I hope you have T scheduled in that time too.

Lean on your family while they're here for you.
