Hang in there. I know I felt this way very often growing up, until my junior year in high school. I was a nobody, too. Nobody wanted to know me and nobody cared. That's just how I felt. I felt so alone and misunderstood. I am here for you if you ever need someone to talk to or just a shoulder to cry on...

I felt similarly back in high school. I absolutely hated high school and couldn't wait for it to be over. Hang in there. The good news is that you're on the home stretch, and once you get out of high school, you never have to go back.

i disagree. i would give a lot if i could have gone to a Pdoc when i was in highschool. i believe that my depression started around age 12. i don't think the feelings are entirely school-driven. could be wrong. but, talk to your parents and see if you can see a therapist for a consultation. xoxoxo pat

I agree with both sides here. You sound exactly the way I felt in highschool. Alone and lonely. I felt there way no one who heard or understood me, I wasn't sure if anyone actually even saw me. I was quite sure no one really cared one way or the other about me. I think there are a lot of us who go thru this in highschool, but I don't think it's normal, or that it has to be this way. I think I was quite depressed at that time, and could have really used someone to talk to. I wish I could have found then what I have now, the ear of an excellent therapist.

Please, talk to someone, your family, a teacher, your physician, anyone who will listen and help you find someone to talk to on a regular basis. Therapists have a way of helping you see things more clearly, of helping you to feel that there is hope. He or she will listen without judgement to anything you have to say. They will help you on the dark days and will be happy to celebrate your bright days.

Hoping your days get better, Quay

Get professional help ASAP. Get involved with a group therapy session. Maybe take meds.

The rumor that the psychic illness that lingers in youth lingers for life is true.

Adolescence can be a really crappy time for many reasons.

Don't wait for someone to intervene. It may or may not happen and if it does, it may not be what you would hope for.

Please find someone to talk to. I hated high school. I wanted to kill myself because of my sadness, irritability and complete lack of self-esteem. The sooner you get help the sooner you get better. It will probably make your adult life easier too. Please continue to share with us. I wish I had had someone who took me serious in high school.

I'm a highschool senior too. Although I only have three classes this year, I feel so numb when I'm at school, like I'm never really there. But it hasnt just been this year, even last year with a full schedule. I'm just there cause I have to be. No one really notices.

As far as normal, I'd say a lot of people deal with it, and you dont notice. But its not something good to be living with. Talk to people, anyone. School counselors? I dont know. I know here they're pretty much useless unless you want to take SAT's.

Just letting you know I'm here, and I understand cause I'm at the same viewpoint as you. Not that everybody else doesnt understand, cause we're all there sometime, right? Always good to have all the perspectives.

I'm just blabbing now, I should shush.

Kay

I can see how my original post might leave the impression that your problems are just caused by high school and that you don't need any further help...I really don't believe that. If I had to go back in time to school, I would definitely seek some help this time. School is hard enough without dealing with these problems all on your own.
