Yes depression can certainly mess up your sleep. Its 4.20 am and here i am posting ha. other times all i want to do is sleep just to pass the day or because i just cant face the day and cope with how the depression makes me feel.

What drugs do you mean. I used to drink and take illegal drugs at 1st i felt happy because i was buzzing, but unfortunatly it made my depression so much worse. I thought it would be an easy way to cope i was sooooooo wrong. I dnt do it now and thank god i stopped before i was badly addicted. If you anti-depressant thats alright if you feel you need them talk it over with your doctor.

Its good your here i have found that posting here uplifts me to a bit. Its good to read others post and it helps to figure out these feelings. Good luck on your journey

it certainly seems like you are experiencing symptoms of depression. are you seeing a therapist? if not, you may want to consider it. as for taking drugs, as dani states, illegal drugs may make you feel better temporarily, but are worse for you in the longrun. if you are depressed enough that you think medication would help, see your medical doctor or a psychiatrist.

if posting helped, keep posting. you can find lots of support here at PC. make sure to check out the live chat rooms for support as well.

Whoo, I've been experiencing really erratic sleep myself, some days 14 hours and some days 0. Depression can really mess you up and make even the simplest thing seem impossible. Self-medicating can be really dangerous and most of those things will react badly with psychiatric medications. It is important that you get help before you hurt yourself. Feel better.

Benjay,

You're right, it does help just to come here and get what's on your mind out to SOMEONE. Sometimes it's hard to know who can handle it in your real life. And I've always found there is thoughtful and caring feedback on this site. We hope you'll keep coming back when you feel overwhelmed.
