I thought that I would make a post where people got to put there "Depression is like".

Depression is hard to describe to someone who has never gone through it because it's more then just being sad. Also, it would help people relate to you and gives you a chance to be creative!

Rule are that you have to start with "Depressions is....." and it can only be two sentences max. Try to only put one a day but if you feel inspired reach for the stars!!!

Good luck!!

My example: Depression is like wearing a pare of sunglasses, everything is dark and the wrong color.

Depression is not wanting to get out of bed to face your life. Depression is when you can't find comfort in your life, although you want to.

Depression is hurting so bad emotionally that you don't know how you're going to get through the day, much less the next day and the day after.

seconding that...depression is not thinking straight, even if logically you know you aren't, you just can't; not being able to explain it to those you love you and seeing the frustration they feel in not being able to understand or even help, so you are embarrassed to share it. Hoping when you do try to explain you don't make a total mess of it. not being able to move forward when that's all you want to do, you just can't.

Depression is like being a dog tied to a tree. Trying and trying to break loose, but always end up just laying back on the ground.

Depression is caused by many different things and it is often very hard to even have the energy to understand how to overcome it. Depression can result from being overwhelmed and/or never understanding how to feel happiness and sustain happiness, but depression is treatable.

Depression is seeing all the things around you that need to be done, but inability to summon up the energy to take care of any of it.

Depression is a little monster that never leaves me alone.

Depression is the inability to accept myself and anything I do as good enough.

Depression is like trying to look through a textured glass window. You want to see what is on the other side, but you can't and you are afraid to open the door, because you are unsure if you want to let the person on the other side in.

Depression is medical and can be treated successfully with medication along with therapy. I also find many people hopelessly treading water. This reveals a truth about strong they must be. Depression is also situational but seldom recognized as such. I welcome all responses to anything I post. Hello fellow depressed beings!

Depression is where every iota of life is like working a 12 hour shift at a job you just HATE. Not worth getting out of bed for, but we have to, to make everyone else happy.

Depression is feeling trapped without the hope to break free. Everything becomes increasingly pointless and you feel emotionally crippled and paralysed.

Depression is like a deep chasm that's so dark you can't even see your hand when it's an inch from your face. You're not always sure how you got there and most of the time you're not even sure how to get out.

Depression is like driving through really thick fog. It slows you down, you can't see much at all ahead of you, it blocks you from really seeing anything nice around you, but you can't just stop going or you'll get run over.

Depression is like those machines eye doctors use. Once the lens you see through flips, everything loses its clarity and nothing makes sense anymore.

Depression is as if gravity has an extra pull on you, on your emotions, on your life.

Depression is like having a weight on your chest, your heart in a blender, and a dark side in your mind.

Depression is like a demon taking over your personality. At first it's just a little part, and then it begins to consume who you are.

Depression is just who I am. Atleast that's what it tells me...

Depression is like pulling the black/dark shades down

Depression is like being sick with the flu

Depression is like a black hole

Depression is a piece of my life that I can mask from the world when I absolutely have to step up to the plate and perform.

But it is always there lurking.
