Sometimes I do, but by then it's usually too late to prevent "shutdown". Shutting down in the face of stress is my dysfunctional way of dealing with it. You are extremely distressed right now, Dubblemonkey. What one thing would make you feel less overwhelmed were it to change or disappear? ![]()

Yah, more than I used to be. I never seemed to be this uptight the last few years. However, it seems I am more tense in public settings than I used to be.
I am taking it slowly however, going out with friends and being around a lot of other people. Sometimes you have to be patient with yourself and just slowly work out these feelings. They don't go away immediately but slowly and surely they well. |
