Sometimes I do, but by then it's usually too late to prevent "shutdown". Shutting down in the face of stress is my dysfunctional way of dealing with it.

Yah, more than I used to be. I never seemed to be this uptight the last few years. However, it seems I am more tense in public settings than I used to be.

I am taking it slowly however, going out with friends and being around a lot of other people. Sometimes you have to be patient with yourself and just slowly work out these feelings. They don't go away immediately but slowly and surely they well.
