i am of indian origin. i have a middle class father who values my education, a career, and upper class lifestyle. he hated my going to the local school, with working class friends my mother is completely working class, has ocd, hoarding issues, cant organise herself at all, severe social anxiety, doesnt go out much. the two never bothered to make a stable identity for me. i now go to an elitist university in london studying english, dont fit in, and have locked myself away for years and tortured myself.
anyone with different class parents have this issue? ![]() |

I can't really relate to having parents of different classes... However, I do know all about low self-esteem and depression. What you describe sounds like depression. And you say you have tortured yourself for years. I'm curious about that. I'm sorry you are going through a hard time. Have you sought help for any of this. Counseling? Talking to friends? Perhaps the university has someone you can talk to? Thanks for posting on here and i hope to hear more from you!

I'd be surprised if the school didn't have counseling services. They would have a better understanding of student difficulties. Is it difficult for you to reach out to others for help? In my own experience, social anxiety has kept me from approaching others for help. Keep posting and we'll help as best we can!
