One thing I know about myself is just telling what is going on with me doesn't fix the problems that I have. Kind of like going to a physician and saying I have a fever and then walking out and expecting that fever to go away without taking steps to fix it like a physical to locate the possible health problem behind the fever and medication to bring it down and medication to take care of the problem that caused the fever to begin with.

Like going to a medical doctor seeing a therapist is only as good as what you put into it. And depression works the same way as medical problems - I also have to set in place plans for why I am depressed and what to do when going through those problems.

Part of doing that was learning more about depression and how to take care of it and recognize the symptoms sooner so that I could work on things before they got out of control.

Attending a Depression/anxiety management group helped alot, along with workbooks like Mind Over Mood by Dennis Greenberger, PHD and Christine A Padesky, PHD and also the book called The Depression Workbook, The PTSD Workbook also contains information that helps people with depression.

I know a lot of the time if I just tell someone about my problems it doesn't make it better. I have to change how I'm thinking about those things, what I'm doing surrounding those things, and only then will I begin to feel better.

It is good to be able to share with someone who understands. Once the T helps you learn coping skills that don't include depression, you won't always feel so lost in these feeling. Sharing is a good first step though! TC
