Hi, I came because I am needing some support and I'm afraid of burning out my friends. I don't have a lot to give back to them right now. I am very sad, and life seems so hard. I've been through this before and I keep telling myself this will past, but I want it to be gone now. I'm very low on motivation and don't take much joy in anything right now. I feel like just laying down and fading away. I'm seeing a therapist right now and a psychiatrist. I just want this empty, awful feeling to go away. I'm blessed in many ways but it doesn't seem to make a difference in the darkness.

Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

Not much that I can offer you carebirdy, except for telling you you aren't alone. I am in the midst of the same, empty place right now, and am just trying to make it through each day. Know this will pass, if that's any comfort, and that without darkness, we'd never appreciate the light, nor would we get to see the stars.

Glad you have a therapist and pdoc, I do too, and they are the bright spots in my dark days. It is amazing how helpful that can be, I just wish I could talk to T daily!

Little comfort, I know, but hey, sometimes quotes are better than what I could speak!

Welcome to PC!

Hi and WELCOME ~ I'm so glad you found us!

I'm glad you're seeing both therapist. It seems you're having a very hard time right now. I'm surprised that your psychiatrist hasn't offered to put you on an antidepressant, since you're AWFULLY low at the present time. It wouldn't have to be permanent -- just temporary until you can get over the hump!

Why not ask him if he would? It could help until you get past some of the more painful parts of your therapy. You shouldn't have to suffer so much! I'd ask him -- it can't hurt. Please do, ok? I know most of us don't like being on medication, but some times we need to to get past certain things.

Best of luck and God bless. Hugs, Lee

I'm currently on antidepressants. I had poop out with my meds in Jan/Feb and I think the new meds aren't working too well. It's at the point where I don't think I can work. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum, I am fairly new too.

I am going thru depress and it's also feeling low in motivation. Sometimes I feel like sleeping and sleeping.

You need to tell your doc about your reaction on the meds.
Thanks for this!

Hi again Carebirdy -- Remember it takes about 6wks for the meds to work. But if it's been that long and they still aren't working, ask your doc to switch to something else. Some meds just don't work for some people. There are lots of other meds he can try. There's no reason to suffer.

I hope he'll try something else for you. Keep us posted, ok? Hugs, Lee

Yeah, I called my psychiatrist and told her I think we either need to up the dosage or change. It's a little difficult because I don't have insurance so we are trying to work with my budget for medications. I really appreciate that everyone has been supportive here.

Went to the Dr. today. She upped the dose and we decided I need to take a short leave from work. I told one of my jobs already and it was a big release, though I need to do a few things to get ready to leave. I also found out recently that my liver isn't working too well, which is crazy because I never drink. It may be affecting how I metabolize my meds.

How long have you been taking meds? Are any of the meds you've taken metabolized in the liver?

I've been taking antidepressants for 13/14 years. I am currently taking Effexor. I was taking Cymbalta when my symptoms reappeared. I'm not sure if they are metabolized by the liver - I just assumed they were. I'll have to do some more research. My gp told me the birth control I was taking could impair liver functioning so I stopped taking it. I did some research into it and found it could also cause depression.
