Hi everyone
i have suffered a seperation in march and it has devastated me. I have started having anxiety issues and depression. I have two children that i love dearly and all the stress feels like more than i can bear. I have started to exercise, cut out sweets, take a vitamin supplement and seems to be barely helping. My problem is this. I live in a tiny farming town. I let all of my friendships go during my marriage and now i am starting over with nobody. if anyone at all could tell me some specific steps to start to rebuild my life i need it. I dont know what to do and i have been having crying spells and losing interest in my work. thanks for all your help. I really need it.
chris

Maybe you could reach out to some of your old friends just because you haven't talked to them doesn't mean there not still your friends. You could also talk to your Doctor about it. Good luck and keep me posted on how your doing.

Are your children involved in any type of extra curricular activities? Starting with what your children are involved in could help you make new connections with other people who have some similarities to you.

You are in a small farming community, but are there any larger towns or small cities near you where you could access some mental health services? A great way to start is to ask your GP for suggestions and some help.

You can always turn to us too!

Hi Chris,

I'm sorry that you're struggling with anxiety and depression. Separation is a very difficult time to get through. When my ex-hub and I separated, I had to try a few things to give me some hope towards the future.

Exercise helped me a lot ~ especially going for long walks outdoors, being out in nature gave me some hope for the world.

Going to a couple of therapists regularly ~ a psychiatrist as well as a psychologist. Medications help me manage my moods a little & talking about my emotions, experiences, and disappointments helps too.

Gentle hugs to you ~ I hope that you find some techniques that work for you very soon!

Hi Chris,
I am sorry you are going through this. Have you looked into any support groups such as divorcecare.org? I have not been through their program, but it is one that I looked into when I was going through severe depression as a result of my divorce. There may be others available in your area.

Perhaps you should also try and reconnect with some of your old friends as well. It can be difficult to reach out, I know, but if they are true friends they will be there for you.

I wish you the best!
