Hello,
Thank you for reading this post. Is it better to apply for unemployment or short term disability after termination? I was let go from my job today for too many absences and not performing well from my bookkeeping job. They let me go by phone so I never got to bring in my doctor's note explaining my deppression. I doubt I will get unemployment but my doctor said maybe I can try for short term disability, since his letter was dated last week while I was technically still employed. Has anyone heard of this? Many thanks |

I'm not sure but I wanted you to know I read your post. Maybe contacting social services can help you? They might be familiar with your situation.

I think I'd rather go for unemployment than short-term disability. It will look better on your resume' or if your next prospective employer calls your last employer for references.
![]() I sure hope you can get it. Best of luck and let us know what happens, ok? Take care. Hugs, Lee ![]()

Hi, I was on short term disability for 3 months just recently. My pay did increasing go down over time, to where it was very little. But if your sick, your sick. You can get it.
I would think about the disability.
