How many meds did you have to try before it worked? I have been trying to get out of my most recent depression with meds for 2 months now and it's not working at all. I tried Celexa, now Cymbalta and am up to 120mg and I'm still totally depressed, no energy at all, can't get anything done but maybe take a shower. I've tried cymbalta with and without abilify this time too. Four years ago I had my first deppression and tried zoloft, didnt work and then a couple others when in the hospital because it got so bad and NOTHING could put me to sleep and lexapro finally helped but it might have led to a severe manic episode. I tried lexapro again during another depression two years ago but it didn't help this time - this is soooo hard!

Gosh, I don't remember. I started on antidepressants many years ago, so I don't have a clue.

I do know that almost all that I HAVE been on have worked. I've just had to change to others because they stopped workiing. After you're on them for so long, they just don't work anymore and you have to use another. I'm now on Cymbalta, the maximum dosage of 130mg per day with Abilify 2mg. per day. It works great!

Take care! Hugs, Lee

Hi Livebythesea.....I'm really sorry you haven't found an antidepressant that has worked right for you. I do not want to be discouraging at all, but just so you know you're not alone in your frustration, I have been on several meds, and have not really (yet) discovered the answer. (I've been on Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Cymbalta, and Zoloft, plus a lot of "natural" supplements.) I've actually been off of everything for a while now, but am thinking I need to see a good psychiatrist and dive into the med pool again I hope that both of us are able to find something that will help.
