I am new to the group. I have suffered from major depression most of my life. PTSD most of my life and anxiety in the last 10 years. The recent death (13 months ago) of my significant other to a prescription drug overdose has pushed me beyond the edge. I found him, and I now relieve that nightmarish scene in my mind over and over.
I was recently hospitalized at my own request to try and help me get it back together, but it did little to help. I am going bonkers. I have joined a few grief groups on facebook, but some of them don't understand the complexities that having mental health issues can cause with grief. I have always felt suicidal..or for as long as I can remember.
I am hoping that my member ship here will help me

Bless your hearts. When I lost my husband 11 years ago, I thought I'd die -- in fact I wanted to. I wanted to go with him. It was my 2nd marriage, and he died 12 days before our first anniversary! I just couldn't grasp that he was actually gone. I lived in a fog for the first year. Thank God my daughter was around or else I would have really done something!

I've been depressed since I was a small child, so obviously this didn't help. I'd been on medication for years, but my doctor adjusted my medication and also put me on Abilify on top of my antidepressant which helped alot!!!

You need to see a therapist who deals with grief also. This is important, as this is a big part of your current depression. Then he can also work on your other issues as well. See your medical doctor and tell him you need to see a therapist -- he will refer you to a good therapist in your area. Do this as soon as possible as the sooner you get started, the sooner you'll feel better.

Best of luck, and please keep us posted, ok? God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee

Hello. Nice to meet you. I too suffer from depression (among many other issues) as well as PTSD. I'm sorry that happened. I am working on attempting to see a therapist now as well, hoping to get back on my fight. If you ever need to talk, feel free to message me. I just want to help other people going through the same problems.

Welcome to PC, I'm glad you are here! I do think this place can help you, it is a great place to gain insight and receive support. What you describe worries me a bit. Are you safe right now? Seeing a therapist? On medication to try and manage the symptoms a bit? I hope it is a yes on all three, and I hope you keep posting on here. Again, welcome to PC!

Can not get meds til first. Son borrowed money and did not pay back as promised. Medicare doesn't pay for therapy, and no one here takes it. And so far I am safe...for the time being. When I am not, I do call crisis center to get help.
