I'm currently undergoing a 5-session hypnotherapy package (it did cost about $400), and I'm about to have my last session this week. I just wanted to let everyone know that IT WORKS.

I've been dealing with depression for over 10 years (and probably all of my life), dealing with all the meds to find out what worked for me, terrible side effects, etc. and recently the Zoloft I had been taking for 5 years stopped working and I was switched to Prozac. Prozac isn't working, so I started taking a more proactive route that included looking into alternative healing as a last resort.

My To-Do List included checking for an organic cause of my depression, so I had several blood tests to check my thyroid again, and I looked into possible PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) or early menopause since my mood swings get worse during my period and I had missed 2 periods in a row (my periods were always wacky).

After getting treated like a basketcase by the doctors and only getting the tests done "for peace of mind" as they put it, I found out I do indeed have PCOS. I also checked my pituitary with an MRI, but thankfully it was clean. The doctors weren't so nice, especially the one who was wrong about me not having PCOS. BUT DON'T GIVE UP. Ask for the specific tests!! Go to another doctor if you have to!! Since PCOS is a disease that is basically untreatable (there are so many cosmetic symptoms that would drive a person to depression by themselves!!), I couldn't stop there. I was sick of feeling bad all the time.

The next option on my To-Do List was acupuncture since it was covered by our health insurance (he was also a chiropractor). I went to acupuncture for about a month and a half, once or twice a week, and it helped GREATLY. I came out in a much better mood and felt more balanced. It wasn't enough to get me functioning again, but it gave me the strength and resolve I needed to proceed to hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is not generally covered by health insurance, so we were dishing out a pretty penny for it. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT.

I now have several tools to work with for the rest of my life anytime I start feeling yucky. I have more hope and know that I am absolutely capable of taking control of my life. I'm still on my meds and I'm still the same person, but I feel more confident!! I might be tapering the meds off soon, as I have a psych. appointment this week too! I'm excited!

If you can, try hypnotherapy. It will work if you want it to work. The mind is a powerful thing.

Good luck!

Eve
