I think I might have depression. As my T says, I started out with an eating disorder and landed up with possible depression instead, which sucks! I really would rather have an eating disorder than depression. I feel like I have no control over my mood and the way I react to things anymore. I'm not sure if I for sure have it, because I haven't gone to a psychiatrist yet. I don't want to go. And I REALLY don't want to take medication. I'm just feeling so blah.

Im sry you feel that way. Although, I think maybe the depression came first and that is what caused the ED? A lot of times, EDs come from the need for control becuse you feel you lack it. You mentioned feeling like you dont hav control over your emotions. Thats what makes me feel like you may hav had the depression first. But the good news is, both are treatable....

Do you hav a t? if so, tell them that you dont want to take medication, and they can possibly help you with a treatment plan that uses natural remedies and/or behavior techniques.

One word of personal experience tho: i am really anti med... and i was diagnosed with depression. I dont think I would hav been able to get out of that hole without the medication. It really does work. Now I am off it, but maybe you could use it just to get a little kick start?

Hi ibdrox -- I'm so sorry you're feeling so badly. But depression is treatable. I've had it since I was about 4 or 5, and I'm 63 yrs old now! So I've had it a very very long time. I didn't get treatment until I was in my 20's because my parents were too busy getting drunk.

Like Misswimmy said, depression can be treated with natural remedies and other treatments. But if those don't work you may have to resort to medications. I have to tell you that medications saved my life. I don't really like being on them either, but without them, I'd be dead by now. I have severe clinical depression and without medications Lord only knows what I would do.

Anyway ~ hopefully if you need them it will be short-term.. I wish you the very best. Depression isn't as bad as it sounds. Since it is treatable, we can lead a reasonably normal life if we have the right treatment. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee
