There is no value to my life. I am just a burden or a drain on society. I am pretty much non-functional right now due to, I think, bad depression. I constantly just want to not go on. I don't understand why I can't get help in ending my suffering.

I'm sorry things are so rough for you. I don't think your life has no value. It may seem bleak right now, but I don't think it will be that way forever. Is there anything one thing that is bothering you right now?

first of all you are not a drain or burden on anyone. you are struggling now but it will get better. maybe if you try talking about some of the things you are dealing with with someone will help to get you to get help. remember that it's okay and normal to not be able to deal with everything on your own. needing help and asking for it is the first step to getting better.
is it all possible for you to get into therapy or even find someone in your life who you trust and who can support you in these tough times? For me having someone i knew i could talk to and i trusted really helped to deal with and work through my issues. You WILL get through this and i know that you are an amazing person who deserves to be helped and is not a burden to anyone... especially to those who know and love you. i hope this helps,..... Sam |

Instead of trying to get help to end your suffering, lets try to think of ways to end your depression, ok?
How about talking to your medical doctor and getting a referral to a good therapist? Therapy is wonderful for depression! The therapist helps us get to the root of our depression so we can put an end to it. If we know what is causing it, we can stop it. Plus if there are any other issues that need caring for, we can do that too! Ask your doctor about it. If you cannot afford therapy, then just talk to your doctor about putting you on an anti-depressant. You can do that, right? An anti-depressant will replace the hormones, etc., that you are lacking, and that you need in order to feel better. Some of these anti-depressants take a little while to work, so you have to be patient when you start taking them. Others take just a week or two so ask your doctor when you see him. But PLEASE -- see your doctor, okay? I wish you the very best. I KNOW you'll feel better if you get on the anti-depressants. They make me feel almost "normal" -- whatever that is. LOL God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee ![]()

I know the feeling, but you're not really a burden on society...its not your fault you can't function and I think society can mange quite fine on its own its not like your lack of functioning is slowing it down.
But yeah its terrible to feel that way, and I know sometimes the feeling still remains no matter what you tell yourself. |
