I have forgotten how to study. What should I do? I have 3 tests tmr... I keep telling myself that i will finish xx topics by when but when the time comes, i haven't studied anything. What should i do? I am on the verge of crying and going crazy. I was a scholar but now i don't know how to study?! How to concentrate and focus?

Well, it's been quite while since I was in school, but what I used to do was do an "outline" of each chapter -- and that way I touched on the most IMPORTANT parts of the chapters. I didn't bother with the boring crap -- just the main points of the chapters. I figured that's what the tests were going to be about anyway, and the majority of the time I was right.

So outlining the chapters worked really well for me, and it cut down on the study time too. Not only that but writing stuff down helped me remember things.

Hope this helps a little. Take care and let us know how you do on the tests. Hugs, Lee

People learn information in different ways. Some are visual, some auditory, some have to write things down. I didn't return to school until 11yrs after high school, and you do forget how to study. What I wound up doing was taking my notes, outlining those, then going back and outlining the outlines.

Flash cards help, even if you don't have someone to ask the questions. The best way is something you have already discovered, and that is keeping up with the material on a daily basis. Cramming works for people with really good short term memories, but if you want to retain the material, at least go through it once every night. It sounds time consuming, but right now its your job. Think of it as a long term investment.

Some professors will allow you to tape lectures, which you can then play while you drive to and from the store or school, wherever.

If you have found friends in school, get a study group going.

At this point, worry over the three tests tomorrow isn't going to help. Just review the material, accept your grade on them and remember how you felt going into these tests next time you try to put off a study session. If you can relax while you study, and not worry about how you will do tomorrow, you will retain much more than if you are all tight and scared.

Maybe. The medication route can be a complicated one and needs to be carefully addressed with a doctor. In any event, poor concentration and an inability to focus seem to be symptoms and not the underlying problem, yes? Best to attack the underlying problems if possible.

In my history a couple doctors tried to "activate" me with medications on top of medications for depression and anxiety. Those attempts were not successful.

I read on the internet that medications help ease the symptoms but you cannot cure the root with it. How to suggest starting medication to the doctor?
