The talent show was today and the show started, I wanted to know the time, so I asked the person next to me in a very quiet voice. The person in front of me (this person isn't nice to me to begin with) turned around and told me to shut up 5+ times. Now I'm starting to think I'm worthless and this guy was totally right to tell me to shut up in that hostile voice, even though I almost never talk anyways, in fear I might say something stupid or get a dirty look or...in math I never raised my hand ONCE. I'm serious, I am so scared I will get the question wrong and everyone will laugh at me, just like they do behind my back. I'm getting very sick if this....the friends I actually have are too focused on everyone else to care about me. Like for example, I was talking to my friend as we were walking down the stairs and I'm in the middle of telling my friend something and she just walks away, and guess where she goes? To her other friend, like she found someone better. Which she did but anyways, they don't genuinely give a s--- about me...I seriously do not remember the last time anyone has given me a hug. Someone, anyone tell me something you think I should hear...but you don't have to, I wouldn't be surprised if no one replied to this.

You are worth as much in this world as anyone else, do you hear?! Some people are just rude, like the person who told you to shut up, and I think people are getting worse all the time. Don't let it keep getting to you. My son has problems with friends always turning to other friends and he just has to keep going, and realize he is worthwhile, and if they treat him badly they are not worth his time. You need to remember that too. That the way others are treating you is more a reflection of themselves, not you! Hugs!

Hey italianfire: I love your name
![]() I am offering you a friendly hug ![]() I agree that whoever told you to shut up was rude and a jerk, i think. Sounds like he has too much testosterone and not enough brains. |

Hahaha...thanks for making me laugh..and thank you for your virtual hugs...I wish they were real...you have no idea how much I wish they were real....I promise I am not exaggerating when I say this (and I said it in the initial post) I seriously do not remember the last time I have received a real hug from someone....or if I have ever gotten one in the first place. What people do (and sometimes don't do) to other people leave scars on their souls, and I have to say, my soul is pretty scarred.

I wish I could give you a hug. Everyone needs to be hugged. After I read your post, I went and hugged my son and held it extra long and sent some of it your way!! You deserve it!

If you can look around and see if there are people around you who are kind of alone and marginalized. When I was in high school I ended up being in a wonderful group of misfits. Really geeky and socially graceless. Turns out that these people were totally interesting and true individuals. Most went on to have Masters and PhDs. I was the only girl. What happened is that I started sitting with people who were alone at lunch. We started asking other loners if they wanted to sit with us. Soon there was a whole table of us. There were so many of us that the bullies left us alone. Anyway, I'm not sure your "friends" are worth it. Preaching here but please concentrate on your studies. High school is short----life is long. Keep posting so we can see how you are |

I know how you feel. I only had a couple of friends in school (a couple more than I have now), but they only paid attention to me when everyone else was busy. I have a weird issue about being touched, but if you were here now I would hug you so hard you wouldn't be able to breathe.

Oh, dear-heart -- you have touched my heart with your request for a hug.
Please, also, look for some help for your depression -- there is no reason for you to suffer the way you are -- being young and insecure is tough to deal with. In today's world, there is not such the stigma with mental health issues, as there were when I was young and in school and suffering, alone. Little did I know that depression and anxiety run in my family, but back then, people would not discuss it -- and from what you have said, your parents are not wanting to discuss this or accept it -- well, you go and find someone who will talk to you and make you realize that you definitely are not alone with your issues, that there is plenty of help available to you -- either with med or with med and counselling I had to cope with my issues by myself for a long time -- pretty much up to the age of 30 -- but I always felt that there was help somewhere, and that I couldn't possibly be the only person in the world dealing with depression, social anxiety and panic attacks. I am now 65 and still living with depression -- but, thankfully, it is more acceptable today and out in the open for discussion. WOW -- I still get "hot under the collar" all these years later, when I think about how helpless I felt way back then. Dealing with mental health issues is so much easier today than it was 50 years ago -- please take advantage of that and become a happier and more self-confident person I leave you with a huge hug and hope you will keep posting here to get the support you need and deserve Luv ![]() |
