I feel like I just exist. Can't stop crying, feel so sad and lonely. My T increased my lexapro to 20mg, I've been on 10mg for a month now. WHen will I start feeling better? I feel like I'm worse.

Hi ((((((((krea))))))))) welcome to PC.

I don't know anything about drugs or their dosages... but I know how you feel. That's where I'm at right now. Can't seem to get better And it sucks.

Hope the meds kick in and help soon. Take care of yourself.

Hi krea

Take it one day at a time. It might take a while for the meds to kick in. Things will get better... Take care.

Don't anticipate feeling better... just let it happen. The more anxious you get about getting better the less results you will see...

Unfortunately, it can take a long time to find the right meds for you (it took a yr. for me & have had to have some adjustments, too). There is hope, though. Meds can make an enormous difference in mood. Take care.--Suzy

(((krea)))) Only one month on an AD isn't very long. I'm glad your Pdoc increased your meds already, most doctors wait till 6 or 8 weeks have passed. The medicine begins to work immediately, but the more depleted your system is, the longer it takes to build up to how much you need.

One step at a time, one foot after the other... keep doing what you know to, what your therapist tells you. You will get there.

Thanks for the replies. I've suffered depression for so long and was on an ad but stopped taking it and my depression totally got out of hand before I sought help. I feel so guilty because I think people think I'm lazy and I'm just so tired. I just can't do anything.

Feeling guilty implies you did something wrong. Having depression is a medical illness, too...would you feel guilty if you had diabetes? Quit worrying about what ignorant ppl might think Can't seem to get better Take care of yourself. Glad you have help to pull you out of this eventually.

Being fatigued & having a lack of motivation to do anything are symptoms of depression. Once you have the correct ad & dosage, you will start to regain your energy & focus. Right now just do the basics for health & hygiene & let the rest of the "to do's" or "shoulds" slide. You will be abe to function again.

I also feel guilt about some of my behaviors when depressed. I lack judgement when I'm down & sometimes do rash things to try to end the pain. I know from experience that depression is a very serious illness & you must continue to seek help with your doc & therapist. You can do it!--Suzy
