Why should I feel so sad, thinking of times when life was a smile?
Life just isn't getting better. I'm lost in the past.

perhaps it's because you wish it was still that time. you wish you still had that happyness.. that motivation or what ever.

i get the same way on long difficult nights sometimes- and it's so hard to deal with

Yeah sadly it's the same for me. I try my hardest to be happy but it isn't working and that makes everything feel worse.

I have to watch thinking of the past and better times, because I beat myself up with things that should a/could a been. If I drift off to the past, I get hopelessly derpessed.

I totally agree with this. Nothing particular sets me off as being depressed on a day (as in tangible experiences)... But it can set off my thinking which can lead to the coulda/shoulda beens and a nice downward spiral ensues

That's my biggest problem...and telling myself to 'look forward, don't look back' is only marginally more painful than when others say it to me. I know it's what I need to do, but it's a battle..sometimes a minute by minute battle. I feel for all of you and hope we all figure out how to do it...soon.
