Interesting point, I've also been cautioned against coming to a site like this (never mentioned it by name)... that it can be counterproductive and has the potential of heightening the issues faced due to the empathy shared with others going through the same things.

I can see their concern and if I was of the type of mindset where I was easily impressionable and vulnerable, then this may well be a bad place to go. Pretty sure there is a warning on the site somewhere about this very issue... would have to do some digging though.

I've been coming to this site for 2 years, I've been seeing therapists for 1 and a half. I've never mentioned this to any of my therapists. I know we often rely on therapy as something to lean on, but sometimes you have to take matter into your own hands. Not everything they say will work for you. But I can understand where they are coming from about the alcohol thing. My therapist flat out told me she had to give up on someone who was an alcoholic. I'm not an alcoholic, just suffer from depression, although, I've actually not been depressed for about 1 week so far, right after I completely went off all of my meds. And my therapist hasn't given up on me yet, I guess you can say "knock on wood"; I see her this afternoon.
