i have gone off the antidep's and am SO distractible- almost lost my water bottle twice today, and my concentration seems to be slipping. worrying me - that's what got me onto the meds in the first place!

Hi Ouch,

Did you go off your meds by yourself or did you discuss it with your doc first? Maybe it just isn't time yet to go off of them. Sometimes we need to be on them longer than we want to be. I know I would love to stop mine but I'm afraid I would start to spiral back down, so I keep taking them.
Maybe you should talk to your doc about it and see what he thinks.
Good Luck to you,
Linda

My general dr. and therapist don't think i should go off- but i don't like how i feel on them - there's a total disconnect btw my thoughts and feelings - i'm still sad but can't cry - it's weird... feel so lost...

Please go back onto your meds. Obviously you haven't taken them long enough to correct the chemical situation in your physical system, as you are having psychological issues already. If nothing else, call the Dr and tell him/her what you are experiencing. If you can't find yourself able to do that, they you have no business self prescribing and going off your med. distractible

I know the feeling that taking meds gives...but "suffer" through the time and see the good results. You're suffering anyway, why not make the end point healing?

It's dangerous to go off your meds by yourself; yes, the side effects of removing the meds "suddenly"/at the wrong amounts/time can be worse than the side effects when you're on them -- kind of like how you can feel good drinking but then the hangover the next day is hell. Withdrawal from any drug needs to be supervised, you could permanently injure yourself!
