My GP decided to run a celiac test on me yesterday. Apparently all of my symptoms including my anxiety and depression can be symptomatic of either celiac desiease or gluten intolerance. Once my test results come back and they decided whether or not to do a biopsy I will be quitting gluten for a month to see if it changes anything.
I almost feel hopeful. |

I would be careful to manage your expectations. I do a lot of research into how food and supplements and even issues with digestion can aggregate depression. A few times I convinced myself that I would be able to solve depression 100 percent. I do find that b12 shots help because I have issues absorbing it from food. Also avoiding foods that have gluten and sugars that can effect my digestive system and increase inflammation. I would say these things help a lot but the depression is still there. I hope you do find that this helps your mood. When I couldn't find the magic bullet to solve depression it was really tough to accept the disappointment.

I quit both gluten and casein and although I wasn't depressed at the time I did have mental health problems and it helped a lot.
Good luck! |

Thanks for the responses. I am not looking for a 100% cure. My sister has celiac and exhibited symptoms that are identical to mine prior to treatment. She is not all better, but she went from hearing voices and having hallucinations and being suicidal to being able to live independantly. She still needs mood stabilizing medication but we are no longer worried about her living.
Since direct relatives of people with celiac have a 1 in 10 chance of developing the disease or gluten sensitivity. And since physical trauma can be a trigger for onset... I figure I have a good chance and it is worth at least trying. |

Sounds really promising. Hope restricting gluten helps!
I used to complain to my GP that I have foggy brain and that I couldn't feel anything. Like a switch turned off and I couldn't even feel physical pain. I would goto the gym and pick up a really heavy weight and normally I would feel tired or a burning sensation.... But I would just lift and would feel nothing. Didn't feel happy or sad just numb ... Once I got on b12 shots the foggy brain went away and I haven't had instances where I couldn't feel anything. So keep an open mind and I do believe there a natural ways to boost your mood |

Even if it doesn't actually cure your depression, if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, giving up gluten should make you feel a lot better physically. And feeling better physically could improve your mental health. It's worth giving it a go. Don't be disheartened if you don't see results straight away; apparently it can take a while to get out of your system. Good luck.

Thanks for the support. Iam waiting for the tezt results. If they come back positive I have to go in for a biopsy of my small intestine, if not I just go off gluten for a month and see if it changes the way I feel
