So, I told my friend about my depression.

I was scared, she seems to be ok.

Fortunately, you appear to have found a good friend in whom you can confide.

I'm really proud of you . I know from your previous posts that you were really struggling with this aspect - just telling someone about your D. I'm so happy that you got it right! Good for you .

I'm glad I told her. We didn't talk about it much,& we won't talk about it around other-or at school.

I just told her...
"I think I have depression". Nothing else. I'm not sure if I should tell her about the suicidal thoughts.

Hugs! You might feel a little vulnerable in sharing initially but trust me, it's much better to share how we feel.

I'm really happy you reached out to someone and that person was receptive to you. Not too many people will stick around after revealing something this big. Your friend is rare and a keeper

I have to admit, I don't think I'll ever be able to muster that kind of courage. My previous risks were small and nowhere near as impactful. It must have felt like a really big step. I congratulate you.

I find that having a friend who understands you and who you can confide in has helped my depression greatly. I always did prefer one loyal friend over a whole bunch of fake friends. Wishing you the best.

Good for you. That is a huge big step for you. I am wondering how the zoloft came into the picture? you would have to have told more than your friend or are you self medicating somehow?

I think you should definitely tell your teacher. They are there to help as well as teach. And now you've told your friend maybe you will find it easier to tell someone else

I really want to tell him. But I'm scared to confront him about it,& especially tell him about my suicidal thoughts. But I need to tell someone about my thoughts.

Fox, please let someone about your suicidal thoughts. I think the teacher would be a good idea because I bet he will want to get some help for you. Telling your friend would make you feel more accepted by her too - - because she will get more of a glimpse into the real you. Something tells me the new information will be well received by her. It will be a relief for you to get it off your chest with someone in real life too. Best of luck with it. Please continue to keep us posted.

I don't think I can do it right now. Hopefully I can before school ends. It'd be better if I just told my teacher, then my friend .

I'm not sure how much I should tell him about my suicdal thoughts. I'm scared that he'll tell someone,& that I'll go to the hospital.

You want help though right? You can't get help unless you ask and tell someone how bad it is

I responded in the other thread. I think you do have to be careful who you tell about suicidal thoughts. If you are in real danger you have to tell someone hospital or no hospital. You do have experience with that other friend recently that was suicidal. He obviously told someone or you would not have known about it. Maybe you and your friends prevented a tragedy. I don't know the details. He is probably someone you could talk to who would for sure understand.

Anyway I think a teacher by law has to make a phone call if he perceives you are a serious threat to yourself or others. Thoughts don't count as that.

I think you need to quit worrying about being a burden and overwhelming people. That is not fair to them. I find the vast majority of people to be caring and want to help. They may not know how to help and say stupid things but they have good intentions. You do have to be careful who you choose but at some point you have to give them a chance to help, to be understanding, or at least try to understand. People may not understand but I find most are loving and caring in this world.
