So often I've seen it recommended... Therapy and Meds. It doesn't take a massive intellect to figure out this is more likely to work than only one of these, especially if the condition/disorder is complex and/or severe. I'm sure now that if I'd been offered meds at one point I wouldn't have got into a situation I got into in therapy,, my anxiety was "overwhelming" and "turned off" the clinician. Yeah... It's not a great feeling for me either. When I talk to a gp or pdoc it feels like I'm being fobbed off. Take your Meds like a good bear, we don't want to talk to you, you aren't worth our money! rant growl, I don't know maybe I really am not "worth" it, so why don't they put me down then
![]() Any suggestions? other than the put up and shut up treatment sometimes offered in the UK? ![]() ![]() ![]() I feel like deleting this, sick of fighting what feels like a brick wall of ...?? Uncaring?

Oddly enough my GP raised a concern but the other way round: do you think the t sessions are heightening your anxiety?
Very possible... Meds (anxiety) dampen the horridness where as therapy is almost like smacking you around the face with the issues that have contributed to the mess we're in... To confront and 'deal' with them. It is the T's job to ease you in gently with this and help you mentally prepare to cope with the rawness of it. So if your T washed their hands... Then they were ill equipped to do their job. Don't give up Fuzzy, it can be a soul destroying case of trial and error but we all hope to get over the crest of that hill at some point.

Not sure if I'm on the right track with your post here, but it sounds to me that you're feeling like I felt in therapy years ago...I was paying on a sliding scale at a lesser rate than those who paid the full amount for their hour. I was being seen late by this psychologist then given short shrift when I was in the sessions. I agonized about it, wanting to complain about the poor treatment. Well, after much discussion with a friend, I concluded that I'd raise the issue with the psychologist as a disgruntled customer as a means of telling him that I deserved compassionate care just like someone that was paying the full amount..and that tactic worked. Part of what I was dealing with then, as now, was depression and being unable to confront people when I was "wronged". In doing that confronting, I became a bit more assertive and a little less depressed...

Any therapist who would give you cursory treatment is either incapable or unworthy of grappling with the complexities of your experience, dear bear.

It's ideal,,the combination of meds with therapy, to help, not hurt. Key word,,'ideal'.
![]() Only in the past few years, Scotland specifically, has there been mi awareness campaigns. Therapy, the way we do it in states, has historically been quite different, at least from chit chatting about similarities and differences, from my place of migration. And costlier,,as well. Put off from anxiety...let me toss, an Americana..wtf??? ![]() Sent from my LG-MS910 using Tapatalk 2 |

I agree meds and therapy are ideal. I've a few therapists that I thought were not helpful at all, but a couple I saw made a big difference in my life. Right now I'm not in therapy due to too many medical bills and doctor visits. But I do feel that without the therapy I've had I would be much less able to do without counseling for a while. I wish it was a perfect world and we could all get good mh care but until then some of us are going to have to suffer through our illnesses and being misunderstood.

Hi Fuzzy, I'm glad you didn't delete your post. You are worth being taken care of. I feel like if you see a therapist their job is to listen to you and help you find ways to deal with or overcome your illness. You should be treated with kindness and respect. Some therapists aren't all that great. About 20 years ago I saw one that I was not impressed with. I probably need a therapist now. I take medicines prescribed by my internal med doctor, but I feel they are not helping that much. Take care and hope things get better soon.
