I'm not anti meds for everyone mind you, but I have such trouble swallowing pills I would like some ideas on ways to help without pills. I have tried exersizing, meditation, yoga, tai chi etc etc. I have found them helpful (exersize being the most helpfu)l but when I'm having particularly hard bouts I don't have the energy or care to do it. I (and maybe others) would like some other tips or ideas on Ways to help.

Hi, HuxleysParadise, and welcome to Psych Central!
Have you tried therapy? I know you say you can't swallow pills, but some meds can be obtained in liquid form or the capsules can be opened and the medicine put into apple sauce. You might talk to a pharmacist about this issue. ![]() |

I am thinking of going to a therapist. I just have to figure out A) how to afford one and B) affording one without feeling guilty about spending money on myself.

Hi HuxleysParadox!
![]() On the can't swallow pills issue.. I don't have dysphagia but I am taking an antidepressant called mirtazapine. It comes in a orodispersable form, meaning that you put the pill on your tongue and wait for it to disintegrate in your mouth before swallowing it. Maybe you could look into such pills? ![]() As for therapy.. I hope you can overcome the obstacle of feeling guilty ![]() ![]()
