So I pose the question, what is it that makes those with mental disorders different from those who don't have a disorder??? Imbalance? Genetic? Invironment? Or my favorite, We Choose To Be This Way?
Does anyone know how those without disorders are affected, in comparison to those, on SSRI, SNRI, Anti- psychotic, Mood Stabalizers, ECT? And WHY are side effects from meds things like depression, anxiety, delusions, agitation, ECT? Are we fighting symptoms with symptoms?

Probably a combination of genetics, chemical imbalances, environment and how it effects that individual vs. someone without a mental disorder. Also drugs have to do with brain chemistry...so while a drug might provide one individual with relief it could effect someone else differently and cause them more issues. But how someone reacts depends on that individual....its impossible to say for sure how people without mental disorders would be effected by those things you mention vs people with mental disorders.

i saw the link was from mercola and immediately wanted start twitching. that guy is such a quack. he's a liar. and a charlatan. he makes money off people's fear and paranoia. i won't even click on a link by that guy. he's on the same level as natural news and other health "tabloids" that just make stuff up because they want to sell you something (check out mercola's store, he rakes it in. you can google 'mercola's mansion' if you want to see how well he does).

Well due to my long family history of mental illness and being raised by a neurotic mother, I'm not surprised that I have depression and anxiety. For me, I feel I was genetically predisposed to MI and add in the environmental factors, I was doomed from the beginning.
That doesn't mean I'm accepting of my problems. I do everything I can to function as a normal human being, it's not easy but well worth the effort. ![]() |
