Hi,
I've been on the same rx regime for years for depression, ADD, and BP2. I don't think the meds are working as well anymore. What antidepressant works well for you? Right now I'm taking celexa. I've tried wellbutrin in the past, it was like taking a placebo. I'm also taking Adderall for the ADD, and Topamax for BP.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have.

Hi, stressedmama! I have taken many drugs over the years. What works for one person doesn't for another. I am now taking wellbutrin, cymbalta, and trazodone as antidepressants.

When I started Effexor and Remeron, I think there was improvement.
Thanks for this!

Major Depression and Anorexia. The best so far for me is lithium added on to fluvoxamine. But it still doesn't seem to be enough.

I have never found a truly effective antidepressant. They don't always work as well as I would like them to. It seems like the depression always manages to overcome the meds.

I have had trouble with this one as well. I have been thru 4 or 5 anti-depressants in one year. Right now I am on Wellbutrin and it seems to work better than the others but it's not perfect. I am also on Topamax for migraines but it doesn't completely help the migraines and it has some ugly side effects. I had to come off buspirone because it had scary side effects.

Abilify, had to switch to due rapid weight gain, now Latuda + Lamictal

Tried an SSRI and Wellbutrin and did not respond at all, in fact I got worse.

I am on zoloft, tried effexor and it did nothing to help. Also tried trazadone, it was of no use to me. The zoloft seems to be helping (major depressive disorder) but am far from normal. good luck

I've not found AD to work for me, ever. I'm now on lamicatal and latuda it is working great. It took a while to get up to the right doses and time to work but I'm feeling so much better than I have in years.

I also take prescription strength omega, melatonin and ambien as needed.

My Dx is bipolar II and PTSD.

Fetzima has been like a miracle. I have been on just about all of them in the last twenty years and this is by far the best for me.

I used to respond to Lexapro, but recently didn't so now I take Wellbutrin, which is helping. I had the vegetative type of depression, with extreme fatigue, so we got approval to use Provigil. That has made an enormous difference. I now feel capable and ready to do things, have the lasting power and concentration, and feel calm and focused without anxiety or sleep problems. I wish they would approve it for depression, at least these types of symptoms of depression.

Any of the SNRIs generally don't poop out, where SSRIs and Wellbutrin do. I like Fetzima for my MDD!

Antidepressants have never really worked for my despondent periods. Most made me suicidal and impulsive. Olanzapine lifted me out of what appeared to be depression. Abilify helped too. This makes me wonder if I have really have depression.

It has been about 11 years since I started ADs and none of them have really done anything for me. My doctors are very unwilling to increase the dosages for some reason.

Cymbalta
Trazodone
Risperidone
Tegretol

Zoloft worked for me in the past (over a decade ago). But I tried it recently (generic) alone, and in tandem with buproprion, with no benefit. I am becoming less and less confident in generic versions of any drug. Alas, there is no recourse. I see a new pdoc on Monday and am hoping he will help.

Prozac for the depression, Zyprexa for the psychosis and bipolar symptoms, Rivotril for anxiety and as somehow it helps contain my mania to a certain degree, I don't know why.
