I've told my therapist that the problem with having depression is that it distorts pleasure and I'm never sure which things I did like since depression usually causes you to loose interest in what you enjoy. All I can think is to remember what made me happiest and go for that now that I have medications that lessen the downs. That's my plan. What's yours?

Hello, I am a new member on this site, and I read your message, and I was wondering, when did you realize it was time to see a therapist about your depression because I think I may need to see one about the constant feelings of no joy I have been feeling? Please reply Finding Your Passion when you have Depression

Hi lelem - Actually, I tried several times because I was so despondant and even gave up on getting help because it never seemed to work out. Though I was ignorant about what kind of help to get. Then someone else became concerned about me and encouraged me to seek help one more time. He even called the doctors once I made an appointment to get them to see me earlier (My appointment was a week and a half out). The office called me the next day and got me in within 48 hours. I can't say how touched I was when I found out what he did for me! From there things just went on a roll until I ended up with a therapist. I think the breakdown at work helped convince me. I'm not sure I can really explain how down and crazy I felt - almost unable to get help at times. It took me a while because I would get really bad and then the next day wake up and feel fine - so I'd forget about it. That's my story in a nonsequitar brief way.

Thank you so much for your help, W. Rose. I have been battling with this demon inside me since Hurricane Katrina, and your advice has helped me. Thank you! Finding Your Passion when you have Depression
