I've been depressed for the past few months, I'm taking medication for it and I know it's working okay but I've been ignoring it and skipping days recently. I've been lacking sleep and I'm pushing everyone away from me. I used to have a pretty social life but even now I'm pushing away my boyfriend who I'm a little obsessed with. I just don't know what to do. I hate the idea of going to therapy or talking to someone because it makes me so nervous

Hello & Welcome, Sceptryc. Did the doctor who prescribed your current medications do a full medical workup on you? All the symptoms you mention, including insomnia, may be explained by depression, but it is possible other problems could be present as well.
Have you ever taken these kinds of meds or been in therapy before? Please make yourself at home here.

My doctor does know about my symptoms and prescribed certain meds for everything but I've been keeping some of them a secret from him. Like my bad mood swings hallucinations and major depression
I've been diagnosed with a lot of mental disorders ack I've taking these meds for about two years now and I've been to therapy three times but it was terrible |

Hi Sceptryc,
About the meds, it's really good to be absolutely steady about taking them when you're taking them. I could never manage this myself until I got one of those plastic pill organizers so I never had to wonder if I had taken something already or not [I'm not actually taking any meds now, but I still use these for vitamins.] Also, I am pretty sure that many psych meds have potentially serious withdrawal symptoms. If you're wanting to stop, I would really advise talking to your MD first. I would also advise telling your MD about hallucinations. I've never had those myself, but it sounds like it could be scary and maybe serious. You need some sage advice on that one, I think. Also and finally, if meds and therapy are not working, how about trying things that are healthy for you anyway and are known to help depression? There's exercise and improving your diet. Also, I've noticed people getting really big improvements with just meditation. The thing that really worked for me is "SNAP CLUB": http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...n-escaped.html It's ridiculously easy to try. Why not give it a try? ![]() |
