Hi,
Ok, I really suck at sharing how I feel about anything but here goes...I guess I'm not feeling that great. Physically I'm healthy, I think. Haven't been depressed since 2003, but I'm losing my pep. I've lost 25 pounds in 2 months without trying. Colleagues have commented that my "feistiness" is gone. I've been described as "more sedate" than usual. I know I'm tired but it makes sense given my schedule. I work 50 hours per week and go to school at night. I don't have time to have any fun. I'm usually too tired anyway.

Is this depression? I've been so grateful to not be in that horrible place I was in 2003, that I suppose I have just put the possibility of ever getting depressed again out of my head.

I don't know anymore. What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Okie

I think that since you're asking, there's a good chance you might be depressed. I drop piles of weight like that when I'm in a mild to moderate depression -- and sometimes I'm too busy to even have time to notice that I'm not feeling like myself. It's not until I get into the way-down deep depression that I realize what's going on.

You should go talk to a professional before you slip any further. I know how exhausting a busy schedule can be. Your mind and body can only keep that up for so long before you get totally worn out and exhausted. You probably haven't been taking much time for your SELF -- and that can be really tough on your well-being. Is there any way you can take a little break and do something enjoyable just for yourself? And go to your doctor and talk about this. I hope you're feeling better soon.

okie...I'm sorry you are feeling this way now.

My take on this is that you should first see a md to rule out anything physical that could be causing your issues. If everything is ok physically, then maybe you are heading into a depression and need some therapy and/or meds.

I hope you figure this out soon and feel better fast!

Hello OKIE.
I am sorry you are not feeling well at this time. I feel that a physical and a menal health assessment may be in order to make sure what is going on with you at this time. I hope things get better for you soon. Take care and good day. It is good to hear from you again. Soidhonia

I also work a lot of hours and go to school. Sometimes, it is hard to tell if it is depression or if I am just asking too much of myself. Face it, working day after day is tough. We all need to have a little fun in life. Maybe you could try setting aside a little time for yourself--do something good for you--maybe that would help.

Has a thyroid disorder been ruled out? That can produce both depression and unexplained weight loss.
