Alright so that it all started when I was about four, not being depressed at the time but it affects me now, I would wake up each night to my mom yelling and screaming at my father for no reason, she even left on several occasions but she always came back, she even threatened him, one time she even locked us in a room to not let him see him, eventually she would calm down and she'd apologize to everyone, this would happen at least four times a few year, she even almost cut his finger off one time, there was blood everywhere... Then one day for a misunderstanding my father got arrested and then financial issues started throwing at us, we moved to these peoples house who treated us horribly, we got our father ot of jail, we started moving place to place, it happened for about two years and eventually we moved yo a different state, thinking about it long and hard what my miserable life is I started crying myself to sleep and self harming, telling myself each night to die... I want to die... I need to die... There's some parts of my story that I've left out but its best to, that's my story, thank you for whoever reads this.

Macy, so sorry to hear of this trauma that you have been through. Stopping self harm is an important step to feeling better. It only makes things worse. It does not help the mind, emotions or body.
You don't have to tell the whole story. Do you have a therapist or psychiatrist that can help you? I have heard many stories like yours here at PC. I have also read many stories of people that followed a path to a happier life. It usually takes help and a determination on the person's part to want to get better. We all have our horror stories but we are all trying to find our way out of them.

Hi macy, I'm so sorry to hear about your current financial condition, your experience with your mom, and the depression this has culminated to. It's difficult in the midst of such harsh suffering to remember the good, positive things in life. I hope you take comfort in knowing that me (all of us!) are concerned about you.
That being said, you have the ability inside you to find hope. Please don't give up just yet! I personally have self-harmed and have daily thoughts of death. Of course, our circumstances are different but we have a similar diagnosis: underlying depression. Have you seen or considered seeing a therapist? Have you tried meditation? Or a thought journal? Exercise? (That last one is my least favorite, but it has been shown to boost self-confidence!) You have battled many hardships, but you will eventually let your thoughts of death pass you by, with proper treatment. I wish you all the best! |
