Just wanted to say hi to everyone, hopefully starting a new job tomorrow after a minor setback. I talked to some guys who had worked for the guy I'll be working for and they did not have one good thing to say about him, so I'm somewhat anxious about that, will need your prayers! I have been known to be short tempered, that's what makes me anxious, that I will not think before I say or do something inappropiate. I have little tolerance for screaming which I consider verbal abuse. Alas, the construction industry is not overly populated with sensitive thoughtful managers! Or is any industry?

Dave, if you get yelled at, act if it's a normal tone and let it run off your back like water off a duck's back. Do they have ducks in Forth Worth? hehehehe

Good luck on this! I sure understand your inclination.

Try to think of one thing you CAN do before you answer ANYBODY. It might be take a slow deep breath, or promise to think to yourself, I can do this... or maybe carry your keys and feel them first something before you speak... the pause MIGHT just be enough to remind you that you want to pick your battles.

Good luck Dave! Starting a new job is always scary. I actually knew my boss from grad school before I started the job I have now, and it was still scary! I'm not the most social person either, so it took me quite a long time to feel comfortable among everyone. I hope things go great for you!

Thanks Candy, that's neat about the deer. There a places an hour or so away here where we can see them. Some folks still run into them from time to time. Have to be careful out on the country roads west of here.

Just remember, when someone acts or says something nasty or dumb, they're showing their own @$$. It's not about you, it's about them! Howdy

Thanks, so far, so good, still going through all the pre-employment beauracracy (did I spell that right?) and safety mumbo jumbo for another week, but getting paid for it! Have a good Fri. eve.! Dave
