Depression is a beast. It lays in wait until you forget its there...then it pounces. I thought that the amount of work I have to do would push my anxiety scores up, but its just the opposite - the busier I am the more depressed I get. Go figure? I suspect the depression is telling me I am not really happy in my job, although I love it and the people I work with too. For the longest time, I thought my depression was related to breaking up with my ex in July. But apparently not. My GP upped my anxiety and depression meds, and I am still depressed. .I guess its time to call up my therapist again.

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. Mine was work related but still surfaces from time to time with elevated stress levels. My therapist and I also believe that I'm affected by the change in seasons(weather). Could that have something to do with your depression? I've been keeping journal so that I can track when I'm worse. You might benefit from tracking yours, as well.

Gayle thank you. Yes I do track my anxiety and depression scores almost daily using the tools here at psychcentral (see "quizzes"). Perhaps my depression is seasonally related - it has been very cold recently, so there's little exposure to sunshine. I think my suffering is more existential...I just can't seem to get back on my feet emotionally, its as though there is nothing for me to look forward to...

You're spot on with that. I've felt the same way.
Thanks for this!
