I'd just like to hear some feedback on people's journeys in finding the right medication for their depression.
I was "warned" by my doctor that it could be a long road, but to remain optimistic. It has been nearly a year now and I feel as if I've been shelling out money in exchange for headaches and essentially "placebos" that aren't right for me. I've now thrown my hands up and stopped taking everything, which I understand is most likely a terrible idea, but I'm exhausted mentally and exhausted at watching my paychecks go to waste with so many appointments and medications that seemingly do nothing. So my question is, how long did it take for you guys to find the right medication to help you, so that you could in turn help yourself get better? |

It depends on what your depression is caused by. If it is idea driven, like it was for Vital then you can escape depression using his method and cultivating a certain outlook, paired with CBT. However, if it is biologically driven then it's best to use every tool you can put your hands on. I have depression due to it being one of my comorbidities with schizophrenia. I have tried two SSRI's and it lifted my depression but the side effects were unbearable. I had a bad reaction to Wellbutrin. Now I'm trying Lamictal to kill two birds with one stone, because I also have bp2 symptoms.

I have tried two medications before, but I don't think they really worked. I had social anxiety and it was really bad, so I kind of just agree with everything.
I'm now on medications for depression. I started it 4 weeks ago, but I don't notice any difference yet. For some work the first medication they try, others have to try serveral to find one that works for them. |
