I've been on a roller coaster of emotional uphevial since I was a child. Everything from abusive father to mood disorder to multiple medication changes to ptsd......list goes on. PMS as an adult is an up hill challenge for me. 7 days out of the month I feel extremely sad, joints and muscles ache, tenderness in the breasts, bloating.......again list goes on.
I am very overwhelmed with my life whether it be the past events or PMS. I lack motivation to do basic everyday things that some ppl take for granted. For instance..... getting out of bed, eating properly, getting a job, having friends...I mean close friends (not romantic relationships although that would be a dream come true), not feeling a constant sense of doom.......etc. Besides pretending that I am not scared of living........and putting on a social masque........how do I start to feel ALIVE and not DEAD inside?

Hello. I agree with Fuzzy. A lot of your symptoms may be caused by PMDD a severe disorder that happens monthly that can become debilitating to daily activities and life. There are meds available at this time for PMDD that may be helpful to you at this time. Exercise is very good as well for PMS and PMDD and depression. Take care and good day. Soidhonia

PMDD stands for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. It is the acronym for the more severe form of PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome).
The physical symptom list is identical for PMS and PMDD; while the emotional symptoms are similar, they are significantly more serious with PMDD. In PMDD, the criteria focus on the mood rather than the physical symptoms. With PMS, sadness or mild depression is not uncommon. With PMDD, however, significant depression and hopelessness may occur; in extreme cases, women may feel like killing themselves or others. Attributing suicidal or homicidal feelings to “it’s just PMS” is inappropriate; these feelings must be taken as seriously as they are in anyone else and should be promptly brought to the attention of mental health professionals.
