We, the Depressed, in our darkest hours have
1. No energy to move
No reason to live
No will to survive
No hope in a cure
No reason to try.
We roam the earth as the living dead
Wanting only to extinguish
That persistent heart that beats,
That ceaseless breath that enters,
That pain that never relents.
Every cell of our being wants to die,
Yet Do We Live.

Author unknown

I found this and it just struck me as being so accurate, at least in how I feel alot of the time.

I agree that this speaks the truth. I, myself, am feeling this way today. I just want you to know you're not alone these days. I know I feel like I am but I come here and feel some sense of peace because I believe you and other people here know what I'm going through.

I like this post Planning. It may sound very negative but I think it is important for people to understand, both people suffering and those who don't, to understand that these feelings are not a side effect of depression but are the very nature of depression itself.

It's not like if we could work ourselves past these feelings we would be free of depression, as outsiders easily think. These feelings indicate a diagnosis that something is wrong with us, something that can be treated, just as a pain in the abdomen may indicate appendicitis. A bottle of tylenol may make the pain go away but it does nothing for the problem.

As with any illness, it may be important to treat some of the symptoms for some immediate relief but ultimately you have to work on curing the disease or else the symptoms will just keep coming back, sometimes much worse.

Take care.

I am also familiar with that feeling. Just reading it makes me remember those dark days.

I wish I knew then what I know now. But I learned the hard way, like most of us do. It took a team - me, my T, my Pdoc, and my friends to get me through that darkness. I had to be brave enough to ask for help. I fell to the bottom, and reached up.

I still remember sitting on my T's couch for the first time, and being soooooo depressed, I couldn't even sit upright, and his couch is leather, so I kept sliding off! Now that's funny! Of course, it wasn't then... it was frustrating.

But, I did reach up, and he made me see a Pdoc, and he made me talk to friends (that was the hardest!) and after trying like 1,473 SSRI's and various combinations, with every side effect in the book, and some I invented, we finally found the right combo. Phew..the room stopped spinning!

When we got it right, it was like a gray curtain lifted. Colors seemed brighter, food tasted yummier, life was just more .... alive. Then the CBT...lots of CBT... and then, well, I could fill up pages.

Thanks for the memories. Sweetie...it can get better. It does get better. It will get better. Hugs to all of you!

Yes it is..........and a shame that so many people don't understand what or how we feel. It would be easier if they could - we could share more of our feelings and work through the problems.
