Hikikomori is a sociological phenomenon where you lock yourself in your room for a few years; because say you lead a successful life but got impulsive, mentally ill or unusually silly with people and they lead you down.
Its very depressing and you may lose your sense of reality and become neurotic/psychotic in your sense of ideals. I sort of have this issue, its been with me since school and I had to have enormous therapy with my family especially in the darker months (S.A.D.) to get to school and to get on with adulthood, when it got worse. I was wondering if anyone in the forums' had it or if your from Australia and you have had it because there don't seem to be any known cases in my country? ![]() P.S. I may need to post a poll with this thread, but I don't know how they work? |

I don't quite have what you describe, but there's something similar that I do. Sorry I'm not more helpful.
I didn't make it through school, but right afterward I ended up getting a job in the field (Video games) as QA. Things were going great. Too great, apparently, because it got overwhelming. I stopped showing up for work and spent all my time indoors on my computer, in my own little world. I got a few more similar jobs and they all ended the same way until I gave up. Now I'm just trying to get SSI to survive because anxiety keeps me inside and depression makes it hard to motivate. Maybe it's a little similar? Hope you feel better and find what you're looking for. ![]() |

In a state of anxiety and depression I tend to want to hide in my home and not face dealing with others. Then I also notice that I feel better when I distract myself by going out places. But I just have to force myself to go out of the house.
However, I just want to hide so I don't have to deal with other people or stressful situations. That is making it hard to find employment. Also my S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) is worse in the summer months when it is too hot to go outside. Hope you get to feeling better. ![]() ![]() |
