Do any of you have super brutal self talk? How are you coping with it and what methods have you used to combat those thoughts. Tips are much appreciated!

Hm-m-m-m... well... the Skeezyks isn't sure what you would consider to be super-brutal self talk, Calico_91. His own self talk is plenty brutal enough for him! Mostly revolving around his profound wish to leave life behind. What the Skeezyks tries to do is to "lean into" this monologue, breathe with it, perhaps smile to it, & accept it... with compassion. It is like a string of misshapen little trolls. They may be ugly. But they have no power beyond what I cede them.

Sorry you're dealing with this too ...

Pete Walker says they're our toxic inner critic!

Brutal self talk

http://pete-walker.com/shrinkingInnerCritic.htm

I challenge them and what they are saying each and every time they rear their ugly heads!

Sometimes I will even verbally tell them "Shut Up" ... "That's Not True" ... "Go Away, You're Not Welcome Here Anymore", etc.

I then remind myself of all my good qualities and characteristics.

Hopefully one day, they will be gone for good and replaced with loving messages instead!

i do that a lot, or criticize my actions in my head... I just argue with myself really. if a bad thought comes up I'll just think 'that's not true' or 'stop doing that' the I'll just visit the forums or I'll get up (if I can) and do something or if I can't get up I'll text someone .

I'm sure if you feel more energetic you'll go out to the store or whatver. but I'm glued to the bed. and that's the worse... there's nothing. worse then negative self talk , in bed, and you have the rest of the night to look forward to or have to get up in a few to go to work. it's a curse.

I hope you feel better.

My toxic inner critic can be more toxic than Chernobyl and Fukoshima combined!

I'm trying to replace those thoughts with better messages.
