I want to recover from depression, and I've mostly broken it down into these goals:
1) Family: I need to respect them 2) Friends: I need to make friends 3) Health: I need to eat a standard, balanced diet, and exercise at a normal rate 4) Self-esteem: I need to appreciate myself, and stop self harming I don't have the money, or emotional stability to find a therapist, and I don't really trust anyone in my life. Do you have any advice for me? For any of these goals, or just advice for someone trying to recover? |

Hello Dancer29: Well... this is a short but formidable list! Any one of the items on this list constitutes a major endeavor. Too often, people dive into self-improvement projects with all sorts of enthusiasm only to slump back into old habits. My suggestion is to break these worthy objectives into smaller, more concrete steps & work on them a few at a time. Perhaps you can come up with a way of tracking your progress. And also try to create rewards for yourself for successfully completing steps toward your goals... small rewards for small steps & bigger rewards for when you've successfully achieved a major goal! Good luck with your plan!

1) I need to see the value in me, as me, for me When you see the value in yourself, it will give you greater empathy (that's your item 1), make you seem interesting (that's item 2), want to be even better (there's 3) and give you greater confidence in general, which will solve 4 and make 2 easier again) |
